Home > Storage > PowerFlex > White Papers > Migration to Dell PowerFlex Volumes using PowerPath Migration Enabler > Perform a migration
Perform the following steps to initiate or perform a migration:
powermt display dev=all |
Note: Select the Source and target devices or volumes after running the above command to know which device will correlate to source device/volume with PowerPath pseudo names to target devices/volumes with PowerPath pseudo names.
2. Run the following command to set up the migration from the source to the target, and specify the technology:
powermig setup -techType <techType> OR -src <sourceName> -tgt <targetName |
Alternatively, you can also use:
powermig setup -tt <techType> -src <sourceName> -tgt <targetName |
3.Run the following command to start the bulk copy and cloning of application write I/Os
powermig sync -handle <migrationHandle>|-all [-noPrompt|-no] |
4. Run the following command to check the status of the migration:
powermig query -handle <migrationHandle>|-all [-noPrompt|-no] |
5. Run the following command to change or specify the synchronization speed of migration:
powermig throttle -handle <migrationHandle> -throttlevalue <0-9> |
Note: The POWERMIG THROTTLE command changes the synchronization speed for a migration and can be set to increase or decrease the rate at which bulk data is copied.
The Throttle can also be set during powermig setup and can be changed with powermig throttle while the migration is in the setup or syncing state, except in the case of OR, where the throttle can be set when you run powermig setup but cannot be changed until after running powermig sync.
6. Run the following command to designate the target logical unit as the recipient of all I/O read requests:
powermig selectTarget -handle <migrationHandle>|-all [-noPrompt|-no] |
7. Run the following command to commit the migration to designate the target as the recipient of all I/O requests:
powermig commit -handle <migrationHandle>|-all [-noPrompt|-no] |
8. If you are migrating native devices, run the following command to stop the redirection of I/O from the source to the target:
powermig undoRedirect -handle <migrationHandle>|-all [-force] [-noPrompt|-no] |
9. Run the following command to clean up the migration. The migration ends after the cleanup step.
powermig cleanup -handle <migrationHandle> [-format][-force][-noPrompt|-no] |
