Datadobi is a global leader in unstructured data management, supporting heterogenous unstructured storage and hybrid-cloud environments. StorageMAP offers a complete solution for file migrations and is an industry leading migration solution for unstructured data. StorageMAP also enables the discovery of metadata about unstructured data, the ability to create copies of data, validate, and manage those data copies and synchronize or failover to them if necessary.
StorageMAP provides massive scalability to migrate petabytes of data and billions of files. StorageMAP provides customizable scheduling and throttling options to manage the available migration, computing, and network resources, reliable data and metadata migration, automatic data integrity verification, and chain of custody reporting. StorageMAP also provides live feedback on the data migration process and advanced error reporting.
Using StorageMAP, any supported file server dataset can be migrated to PowerFlex file servers, and the migration can be configured to take place at predefined time intervals. StorageMAP allows configuration of migration options, interaction with running migrations and the ability to manually start an iteration. During the switchover window, a final synchronization is performed between the source and target. Target shares and exports can also be configured by copying source shares and export definitions to the target.
StorageMAP consists of two important components:
Migration requires the deployment of proxies where the DobiMiner Core acts as the controller of the system and the DobiMiner proxies act as workers. Once the proxies have been installed and assigned to the DobiMiner Core, they can be allocated to the source and target file servers.
For more information, see Datadobi documentation.
Note: Migration consists of an initial baseline copy and then a series of incremental copies. StorageMAP copies any file from source to target only if it is not open. Any open files are skipped during the copy iteration. Any such skipped files are verified during subsequent incremental iterations.
