Deployment options
To deploy OpenShift Container Platform 4.12, choose one of the following methods:
- Full control: User provisioned infrastructure (UPI)-based deployment enables the user to provision, configure, and manage the required cluster infrastructure and resources (bootstrap machine, networking, load balancer, DNS, DHCP, and so on). For detailed deployment steps, see this GitHub file.
- Automated: Installer-provisioned infrastructure (IPI)-based deployment uses the baseboard management controller (BMC) of each cluster host for provisioning. See IPI-based deployment and the following section of this guide.
- Interactive: The Assisted Installer from the Red Hat Hybrid Cloud Console offers an interactive way to enter configurable parameters and generate a discovery ISO to boot the cluster nodes (access requires Red Hat login credentials). See Assisted Installer for OpenShift Container Platform.
- Local agent-based: This method uses the agent-based installer from the Red Hat Hybrid Cloud Console for clusters that are confined in an air-gapped network. You must download and configure the installer (access requires Red Hat login credentials). See Agent-based installer cluster deployment.
For an overview of each of these methods, see Installing OpenShift Container Platform 4.12 and the following section of this guide.
