The solution architecture is designed with the EDA dataset hosted on the PowerScale cluster on-premises and a share presented to the Vcinity Ultimate X (ULT X) within the data center. Vcinity ULT X mounts the PowerScale NFS share and creates a highly efficient RDMA tunnel to a second Vcinity instance in the public cloud, regardless of latency.
Note: The connection to the public cloud must be set up by the customer prior to configuring the Vcinity RDMA tunnel.
The Vcinity ULT X with high-performance memory and disk cache presents the share and PowerScale data to the compute instances in the public cloud. As the EDA compute instances read the data for the first time, the data is transferred into the Vcinity cache over the WAN connection through the Vcinity tunnel. While this operation will incur latency over the WAN, the Vcinity RDMA tunnel will optimize the time to complete this process.
Once data has been transferred into Vcinity’s local cache, subsequent read operations are local to the EDA environment.
Following is the solution workflow:
The Vcinity solution is deployable at the edge, on-premises, or on the public cloud in either physical or virtual editions. This Vcinity solution operates turnkey with Dell products to fit your deployment, whether on-premises, at the edge, or in the cloud.
Adding Vcinity to your edge applications enables faster data access and processing from existing systems while also enabling global compute elasticity for EDA architectures:
Take meaningful action on data sooner, no matter its location, with data movement up to 11x faster and real-time remote data access.
Provide applications access to and process data over the WAN as though it were local, eliminating the need to move or copy data—thereby improving productivity and reducing costs.
Extend actionable, timely data to the edge without moving it. This solution allows access to critical data as needed, delivering the mission data in near real-time.
