Deploy the VMware vCenter Server Appliance (vCSA) by deploying and setting up the vCenter Server.
Deploy vCenter Server
- Download the VMware-VCSA-all-7.0.0-16386292.iso file from the win32 folder under the vcsa-ui-installer folder, and then run installer.exe. The vCenter Server Appliance 7.0 Installer wizard opens.
- Click Install > Next.
- Accept the end-user license agreement and click Next.
- In the vCenter Server deployment target page, enter the FQDN or IP Address, root username, and password for the controller host.
- Accept the certificate warning, if any, by clicking Yes.
- On the Setup vCenter Server VM page, type the vCenter Server Appliance name, set and confirm the password for the root user, and then click Next.
- In the Select deployment size page, click Large, keep storage as the default, and then click Next.
- On the Select Datastore page, select datastore PERC-01 (created earlier), click Enable Thin Disk Mode, and then click Next.
- Enter the FQDN, IP Address, Subnet, Gateway, and DNS Server information and click Next.
- Review the details in the Ready to complete stage 1 screen and click Finish.
Set up vCenter Server
To set up the vCenter server:
- After selecting Continue from stage 1, select Next from the stage 2 introduction page.
- Select Synchronize time with NTP Server and enter NTP Server IP addresses and select Disabled for SSH access and click Next.
- At the SSO configuration page, create a new SSO domain.
- Enter the Single Sign-On domain name and provide password for SSO and click Next.
- On the Configure CEIP page, clear Join the VMware’s Customer Experience Improvement Program and click Next.
- At the Ready to complete page, verify all settings and click Finish.
- Click OK if a warning message is displayed.
- When Stage 2 is completed, click Close and log in to vCenter using the SSO credentials.
Add vSphere licenses
- Log in to the vCSA.
- Click Administration > Licensing > Licenses.
- Click the green plus sign (+) to open the New Licenses wizard.
- Type or paste the license keys for VMware vSphere and vCenter, and then click Next.
- Optionally, provide an identifying name for each license and click Next.
- Click Finish to complete the addition of licenses to the system inventory.
The newly added licenses are visible In the Licenses view.
- Click the Assets tab.
- Click Hosts.
- Highlight the controller.
- Click Assign License.
- In the dialog box, select the vSphere license from the list and click OK.
- Click Clusters.
- Left-click the PowerFlex management controller host cluster to select it, if not already selected.
- Click Assign License.
- In the dialog box, select the newly added vCenter license from the list and click OK.
- Click the License tab and verify usage appears for each listed license.
Creating the vSphere data center
- Log in to the vSphere Client (HTML5).
- Right-click vCenter and select New Datacenter.
- Enter the Datacenter Name and click OK
Creating the vSphere cluster
- Log in to the vSphere Client (HTML5).
- In the left window, click vCenter > Hosts and Clusters.
- Right-click the DataCenter Name and click New Cluster.
- Type PowerFlex Management as the cluster name (this cluster is the controller cluster) and click OK.
- Repeat steps 3 and 4 to create the compute cluster.
