Perform the following best practices for PowerFlex networking:
- Change the grub template of all Storage Data Server (SDS) nodes to disable Intel CPU P-State and enable C-State.
- Enable block multi-queue queueing mechanism in all SDS nodes. The MultiQueue Block IO Queueing Mechanism enables fast storage devices to achieve a huge number of input/output operations per second (IOPS) through queueing and submitting IO requests to block devices simultaneously, benefiting from the parallelism offered by the modern storage devices such as SSDs.
- For ESXi compute only nodes, using esxcli, set the No of outstanding IOs with competing worlds to 256 for all volumes provisioned from PowerFlex. Increasing this value from default 32 to 256 enhances the performance.
- Ensure that the server performance profile is set to High Performance.
- Use jumbo frames (9000 Bytes MTU) throughout the networking infrastructure such as VMware vSwitches, VMkernel ports, and physical switches.
