The new metro node hardware platform for storage virtualization is the next-generation successor to the VPLEX platform. It is a fixed hardware configuration based on the Dell PowerEdge R640 server, providing embedded storage management, I/O path simplification, and modern 32 GB Fibre Channel SAN connectivity.
A metro node appliance is a two-node cluster that provides data protection and nondisruptive data mobility across storage-arrays. One metro node appliance is required at each site for the synchronous replication configuration over metro distance.
Metro node features include:
Each metro node consists of:
The metro node management stack runs on each node in the cluster. Each node has a public Ethernet port, which provides cluster management services when connected to the network.
