Dell Technologies and NVIDIA have worked together for numerous advancements in computation, data storage options, and high-speed networking. In this whitepaper, we show how to integrate the NVIDIA A100 40 GB GPU with the two-layer PowerFlex system efficiently, while preserving the impressive performance gains in a virtualized environment using the latest version of VMware virtualization software.
The solution also showcases how to use different NVIDIA MIG partition profiles for the A100 GPU running together the training of an image classifier (ResNet50 v1.5) with inference using a trained ResNet50 v1.5 model. The test results show no bottlenecks with the PowerFlex storage throughout the tests.
vGPU and NVIDIA MIG partitioning enables more IT organizations to take advantage of AI, machine learning, or deep learning workloads on VMware managed platforms. The MIG partitions provide predictable performance, regardless of how other partitions on the GPU are used.
