We performed tests on a PowerMax 2000 dual (2 Brick) engine using the SAP HCMT tool for HANA-HWC-ES 1.1 certification. The following table provides guidelines that we derived from the test results for estimating the initial number of SAP HANA production hosts that can be connected to a PowerMax array:

Note: We determined the scalability of PowerMax 8000 systems and additional PowerMax Bricks by extrapolating the PowerMax 2000 test results and using the performance characteristics of the PowerMax 8000 systems.
Depending on the workload, the number of SAP HANA hosts that can be connected to a PowerMax array can be higher or lower than the number specified in Table 2. Use the SAP HCMT tool with scenario HANA-HWC-ES 1.1 to validate the SAP HANA performance and determine the maximum number of SAP HANA hosts on the storage array.
