With SAP HANA TDI Phase 5, SAP introduced workload-driven SAP HANA system sizing. For more information, see the SAP KB article: 2613646 - SAP HANA TDI Phase 5 (access requires SAP login credentials). Customers use the SAP HANA Quick Sizer tool and sizing reports to determine the optimal memory sizes, the number and type of CPUs, and the number and type of disks for their SAP HANA environment. On completion, they communicate these specifications to Dell Technologies. For more information, see the Sizing topic on the SAP website.
With SAP HANA PowerEdge solutions, you can use internal as well as external storage for SAP HANA. Your Dell Technologies sales representative can help you identify the best solution for a specific workload and environment.
If you are planning to install the operating system locally, consider using an M.2 SSD with a BOSS controller to decouple the operating system from your workload. BOSS devices provide RAID capabilities and offer a good performance-to-price ratio. You can use Dell OpenManage tools to keep the firmware on these devices up to date as well as monitor the system and keep a hardware inventory.
