Dell Unity x80F storage systems support NAS connections on multiple 10 GbE and 25 GbE ports. In an Oracle NFS environment, 25 Gb/s is recommended for the best performance. Starting with OE version 4.4, the ports on the embedded 4-port network card and optional Ethernet I/O modules that are used for NAS servers, replication, and import. These ports can be configured to a custom MTU size from 1280 through 9216.
Ports from iSCSI interfaces must still use 1500 or 9000 for MTU. Ports with custom MTU sizes can be configured for link aggregations and fail-safe networking (FSN), if the MTU size matches on all ports. See section 2.1 Interfaces of Dell Unity: NAS Capabilites for more information. For more information about Jumbo frames/MTU 9000, see the sections:
Consideration should be given to configure highly available Unity network interfaces when the interfaces are used by an Oracle database. For more information about highly available Unity interfaces, see the sections: Dell Unity NAS servers, and Configuring LACP—NAS server.
Note: See the note in section Dell Unity file system and Oracle ASM disks regarding using NFS with Oracle ASM.
