ASM disk groups can be created on multiple NFS shares residing on different NAS servers. Spanning ASM disks across multiple NAS servers might provide improved load balancing and flexible capacity planning. However, to use snapshots for a database, all disk groups containing the database must reside on a single NAS server as snapshots are not supported across multiple NAS servers.
To create ASM disk groups on Unity NFS exports, follow these steps.
Note: In this example, ORCL:* is in the Disk Discovery Path because part of the Oracle environment relies on block devices managed by ASMLib.
asmca displays the available disks in the disk discovery path. If the ASM disks created previously are missing, check the ownership and permission of the disks.
