Some Windows components are disabled to reduce resource requirements, in accordance with best practices. Desktops for this test use the VMware operating system optimization tool to change the behavior of virtual machines to reduce their hardware requirements.
Note: The operating system optimization tool is designed to reduce the effort required to optimize Windows. Restrictive configurations may cause applications or Windows features to stop working. Test your configuration to ensure that all user applications still work correctly with the optimizations applied.
Virtual desktop sizing will vary for each user environment, depending on the type of user and required apps. A detailed discussion on sizing requirements is outside the scope of this document. There are sizing tools available to estimate processor and memory requirements for virtual machines, including minimum requirements and best practices made available by VMware.
