To use snapshots with metro node, create one or more identical write-order consistent volume groups on both PowerStore arrays. Include in the volume groups the Oracle ASM volumes to be snapped.
If AppSync will be used for protecting and creating snapshots of the Oracle database in the metro node environment, follow the best practices recommendations for using AppSync with Oracle. See References for more information.
If AppSync will not be used, it is not necessary to follow these guidelines, but it is recommended. Reconfiguring PowerStore volume groups after snapshots have been taken on them, will change how the snapshots are managed and used. See PowerStore documentation for more information.
For a highly available metro node Local configuration, identical storage must be provisioned in both PowerStore arrays for Oracle and presented to metro node. Make sure that the storage volumes between the PowerStore arrays are configured identically, including having the same LUN ID.
