Each virtual volume of a distributed device needs to be exposed to the storage view from both metro clusters. To expose virtual volumes, perform the steps in this section twice: once for cluster-1’s storage view, and once for cluster-2’s storage view.
Note: This section is performed after setting Provision on to Distributed Storage. (See Setting metro node Metro provisioning context)
- Set View BY to Virtual Volumes to open the Export Virtual Volumes wizard and display a list of virtual volumes for the distributed devices.
- Click a virtual volume and its check box.
- Click MODIFY, then click Export.
- The first time this section is performed, do not check Show Virtual Volumes already exported to other storage views. However, the second time this section is performed for cluster-2’s storage view, Show Virtual Volumes already exported to other storage views must be checked. For example:
The first time performing this section:
The second time performing this section:
- The wizard sets Storage View Cluster to the active cluster for the Metro configuration. For this paper, cluster-1 was the active cluster. The first time performing the steps in this section, do not change the value of Storage View Cluster. However, the second time performing this section, set Storage View Cluster to the other cluster participating in the Metro configuration. For this paper, cluster-2 was the other cluster.
The first time performing this section:
The second time performing this section:
- Set the Storage View to the storage view naming the Oracle RAC node residing at the same site as the Storage View Cluster. For example:
The first time performing this section:
The second time performing this section:
- Click Manually set all LUNs for added Virtual Volumes both times performing the steps in this section (For brevity, only an example of doing this for cluster-1 is shown).
- Under Available Virtual Volumes, click all the virtual volumes needing exporting. Then, click the right arrow.
- Second execution only: Unisphere will prompt for confirmation to export the already exported virtual volumes to another storage view. Click YES.
- Set the LUN IDs. Scroll right in the Selected Virtual Volumes pane to display column LUNs. Click a LUN value and set it to the appropriate value. Repeat this for all virtual volumes. Click OK.
- The wizard displays the results of exporting the virtual volumes. Click CLOSE.
Repeat this section to export the virtual volumes to cluster-2 and the second Oracle RAC node (storage view r730xd-2).
