When creating extents in a metro node local configuration that provide highly available storage for Oracle, an extent needs to be created with the same configuration on the matching pair of metro node storage volumes.
Figure 18. Matching extents on paired metro node storage volumes
In Unisphere for metro node, repeat the following steps for the metro node storage volumes created in the previous step.
- Set the provisioning context in metro node (see Setting metro node Local provisioning context).
- Set drop-down field View By to Storage Volumes.
- Click the check box associated with the matching pair of like-purposed metro node storage volumes sourced by the backend PowerStore arrays.
- Click MORE.
- Click Create Extents to start the Create Extents wizard.
- The wizard displays the selected storage volumes. Click NEXT.
- Review the create extents request. Then, click FINISH
- Review the status of creating the extents. Then click CLOSE.
- Repeat this process if more extents need to be created.
- Once an extent is created on the matching pair of metro node storage volumes, a metro node device needs to be created using RAID 1 mirroring between the extents. The RAID 1 protected device provides highly available storage for Oracle. Creating the RAID 1 geometry on the device is covered in the next section.
