Once matching devices have been created in both metro node clusters, create the distributed consistency group by performing the following steps with the provision context set to Distributed Storage. (See Setting metro node Metro provisioning context)
Note: This section is performed after setting Provision on to Distributed Storage.
- Set View BY to Consistency Groups and click CREATE.
- The Create Consistency Group wizard starts and prompts for information.
- Provide a meaningful name for the consistency group name. Then, click NEXT.
- The wizard then prompts for distributed settings. Distributed settings instruct metro node Metro how it should manage a failure of either cluster-1 or cluster-2, or a failure of a site. Click the Rule Set drop-down and click the appropriate value for the metro node Metro environment. Rule set Winner:cluster-1 (5 seconds) was used for this paper. Best practice is to set the detach rule to match the site where array based restore is being done. (For a description of the different rule sets, see rule set in Terminology). Then, click NEXT.
- The wizard then prompts for the virtual volumes to include in the consistency group. Since virtual volumes have not been created, click NEXT.
Note: The virtual volumes will be added to the distributed consistency group when the distributed devices are created.
- The Wizard displays a review of the request to create the distributed consistency group. If the request is correct, click FINISH.
- The wizard displays the results of creating the distributed consistency group. Click Close.
- Unisphere for metro node-Metro displays the new distributed consistency group on the Provision Storage tab.
