Home > Storage > PowerStore > Virtualization and Cloud > Dell PowerStore and SUSE Rancher > Set up a local Linux workstation
This local Linux workstation interacts with the Kubernetes cluster remotely and facilitates the Rancher installation. You can either set up a new workstation or use an existing one, provided it is on a network with access to the Kubernetes cluster.
Make sure to install both the kubectl and helm command-line tools on the workstation.
curl -Lo kubectl "https://dl.k8s.io/release/$(curl -L -s \
https://dl.k8s.io/release/stable.txt)/bin/linux/amd64/kubectl"
install -o root -g root -m 0755 kubectl /usr/local/bin/kubectl
curl -fsSL -o get_helm.sh \
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/helm/helm/main/scripts/get-helm-3
chmod 700 get_helm.sh
./get_helm.sh
mkdir $HOME/.kube
scp root@{hostname/ip}:/etc/rancher/rke2/rke2.yaml $HOME/.kube/config
chmod 755 $HOME/.kube/config
Replace the server information with the server node hostname or ip address or the fixed registration address.
