With the inclusion of MDM for HYPERMAXOS and PowerMaxOS and Solutions Enabler 9.1, additional parameters are available during the migration create step to facilitate Minimally Disruptive Migrations.
The offline parameter must be used to differentiate between a regular Data Mobility migration using NDM and a migration requiring minimal downtime (MDM). The move identity and precopy parameters however are optional and can be used together or as individual parameters in addition to offline parameter. Depending on the environment and user needs, the offline can be used with both precopy and move identity, or with either one.
The walkthrough guide in this section describes two methods for MDM using the following:
The duration of this walkthrough uses MDM to migrate SGs from PowerMax 000197900111 to PowerMax 000197600156.
Prior to the start of a planned migration, ensure that the prerequisite checks for using MDM have been completed:
Even though the walkthrough guide provides a detailed device examination after each step, and inspects the workings of each of the issued commands, the user needs to issue three commands to migrate an SG from source to target:
Note: If migrating Solaris Cluster environments using MDM, review Appendix G: MDM with Solaris cluster.
