Ignition key eliminates data exposure on D@RE enabled PowerMax arrays where physical security of the array is not guaranteed. The ignition key functionality requires authorization from an external key manager to gain access to the array. This prevents usage of the array unless the ignition key is retrievable from the external key manager during a power cycle.
During each power cycle, with ignition key enabled, a handshake occurs between the PowerMax array and the external key manager to bring the array online. Without this handshake, the array remains offline.
