Ignition key eliminates data exposure on D@RE enabled PowerMax arrays in the event physical security of the array is not guaranteed. The ignition key functionality requires authorization from an external key manager to gain access to the array. This prevents usage of the PowerMax unless the ignition key is retrievable from the external key manager during a power cycle.
During every power cycle, with ignition key enabled, there is a handshake between PowerMax and the external key manager to bring the array online. Without this handshake, the array will remain offline.
