Home > Storage > PowerMax and VMAX > Storage Admin > Dell PowerMax: Ansible Modules Best Practices > Enforcing Naming Standards on Storage Objects
Ansible playbooks are an ideal way of ensuring that naming standards are followed in your organization. Prefixes and postfixes can easily be applied in the YAML by templating the variables and applying your corporate naming standards.
The basic example in Figure 28 prefixes the value for sg_name to the portgroup_name and mv_name variables, postfixing _PG to port groups and _MV to masking views. This configuration ensures compliance with a simple naming convention.
Best Practice: Use one case—either uppercase or lowercase—for Ansible inputs. Unisphere for PowerMax API is not case-sensitive for object names, but Python is. Ansible modules handle conversions on input for idempotency; however, using only lowercase or uppercase avoids any corner cases.
