The storage group construct is central to managing your PowerMax storage with Ansible. A storage group is a container that is used for provisioning and management of PowerMax volumes. Usually, all volumes in a storage group are related to an application or subset of an application’s components.
A storage group can contain additional storage groups in a cascaded fashion, as described in Creating cascaded storage groups.

Storage groups can also be reused for creating snapshots of data and setup and control of remote replication. Reusing simplifies the number of components to be managed. Automation workflows are also simplified using storage groups because the underlying APIs are optimized for their use.
