Adding new devices to an SRDF Metro Configuration is a simple operation supported by Unipshere for PowerMax and HyperMax OS 5978 and higher. Solutions Enabler and REST API also support this functionality. For illustrative purposes, the document will show an example through Unisphere for PowerMax because it is the simplest way to manage the User Interface and REST. Dell Solutions Enabler SRDF Family CLI User Guide is available on https://support.dell.com and it documents the process of adding devices to an existing SRDF configuration through the command line.
Adding devices with Unisphere steps are as follows.
With just a few clicks, new capacity has been added and made available to the application at both sides of the SRDF Metro Configuration. If the same storage group used as in the Masking View and the SRDF Metro Control Operations, then there is nothing more needed other than to rescan the host for new devices and start using the additional capacity. Snapshot Policies and regular snapshot operations will also be unaffected by the change because the PowerMax system will handle the new configuration.
