CloudStack is designed to work with any scalable secondary storage system. Secondary storage uses the Network File System (NFS) protocol, as this ensures that the files can be accessed by any host in the zone. Setup NFS share as secondary storage on the Management Server.
For more information, see Secondary Storage.
Steps to setup secondary storage:
1. Run the following command to install the NFS utility package:
# dnf install nfs-utils
2. Run the following command to create a directory that will be used for secondary storage:
# mkdir -p /export/secondary
3. Run the following command to configure the new directories as NFS exports:
# vi /etc/exports
4. Insert the following line:
/export *(rw,async,no_root_squash,no_subtree_check)
5. Export the /export directory: exportfs -a.
6. Edit the /etc/sysconfig/nfs file. Uncomment the following lines to enable the ports used by CloudStack:
LOCKD_TCPPORT=32803
LOCKD_UDPPORT=32769
MOUNTD_PORT=892
RQUOTAD_PORT=875
STATD_PORT=662
STATD_OUTGOING_PORT=2020
7. Edit the /etc/sysconfig/iptables file if the firewall is not disabled. Add the following lines at the beginning of the INPUT chain, where <NETWORK> is the network that is used:
# -A INPUT -s <NETWORK> -m state --state NEW -p udp --dport 111 -j ACCEPT
# -A INPUT -s <NETWORK> -m state --state NEW -p tcp --dport 111 -j ACCEPT
# -A INPUT -s <NETWORK> -m state --state NEW -p tcp --dport 2049 -j ACCEPT
# -A INPUT -s <NETWORK> -m state --state NEW -p tcp --dport 32803 -j ACCEPT
# -A INPUT -s <NETWORK> -m state --state NEW -p udp --dport 32769 -j ACCEPT
# -A INPUT -s <NETWORK> -m state --state NEW -p tcp --dport 892 -j ACCEPT
# -A INPUT -s <NETWORK> -m state --state NEW -p udp --dport 892 -j ACCEPT
# -A INPUT -s <NETWORK> -m state --state NEW -p tcp --dport 875 -j ACCEPT
# -A INPUT -s <NETWORK> -m state --state NEW -p udp --dport 875 -j ACCEPT
# -A INPUT -s <NETWORK> -m state --state NEW -p tcp --dport 662 -j ACCEPT
# -A INPUT -s <NETWORK> -m state --state NEW -p udp --dport 662 -j ACCEPT
8. Restart iptables service.
# service iptables restart
# service iptables save
9. Reboot the Management Server host. Now the NFS secondary storage has been set.
