The following steps describe the brief installation process necessary to deploy the Management Server. For more information, see Management Server Installation.
# vi /etc/yum.repos.d/cloudstack.repo
[cloudstack-4.18]
name=cloudstack
baseurl=http://packages.shapeblue.com/cloudstack/upstream/el$releasever/4.18 [packages.shapeblue.com]
enabled=1
gpgcheck=1
gpgkey=http://packages.shapeblue.com/release.asc [packages.shapeblue.com]
3. Run the following command to install the CloudStack management using dnf.
# dnf install cloudstack-management
4. The Management Server uses a MySQL database server to store its data. The following steps are used to install and configure the MySQL database:
a. Run the following command to install the MySQL package.
# dnf install mysql-server
b. Edit the MySQL configuration file /etc/my.cnf.d/mysql-server.cnf and insert the following lines in the [mysqld] section:
innodb_rollback_on_timeout=1
innodb_lock_wait_timeout=600
max_connections=350
log-bin=mysql-bin
binlog-format = 'ROW'
c. Restart MySQL to put the new configuration into effect:
systemctl start mysqld
d. Run the following command to secure the installation, answer y to all the questions:
# mysql_secure_installation
e. cloudstack-setup-databases script is used for creating the CloudStack databases. The following command creates the cloud user in the database:
# cloudstack-setup-databases cloud:<DB password>@localhost --deploy-as=root:<OS root_password>
Where: -
DBpassword: password to be assigned to the “cloud” user. Set the password based on MySQL database password policy.
deploy-as: specify the username and password of the user deploying the database. In the following command, it is assumed the root user is deploying the database and creating the “cloud” user.
Note: See Install the database on separate nodes to install the MySQL database on a standalone machine which is separate from the Management Server when using a deployment that includes several Management Server nodes.
5. Finish configuring the OS for the Management Server by running the following command:
# cloudstack-setup-management
6. The following message is displayed on completion: CloudStack Management Server setup is done.
