Prerequisites
To validate the Oracle RAC database performance on PowerFlex using SLOB, the PowerFlex engineering team:
- Created a separate big file tablespace and temporary tablespace.
- Populated the SLOB database with data using 240 user schemas with a SLOB scale factor of 12 GB for each schema resulting in 2.9 TB of user data.
Test scenarios
The team used the following SLOB test scenarios:
- 100 percent read-only workload – Each of the SLOB user sessions perform 100 percent of the time, and the select statements from the database create a read-only workload. We Increased the number of slob workers for each test in a step-by-step approach to see the increase in IOPS.
- 75/25 mixed workload – Each of the SLOB user sessions perform read/write (select and update operations) in a ratio of 75 percent select to 25 percent update, creating a mixed workload. This mixed workload is often referred to as OLTP.
