To meet this demand, Dell Technologies has added support for a multipath client driver that enables performance aggregation of multiple PowerScale nodes through a single NFS mount point to one or many compute nodes. This enables Dell Technologies to deliver the first Ethernet storage solution validated on the NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD.
To deliver the throughput required for larger NVIDIA SuperPOD deployments, NFS client connectivity to the Dell PowerScale cluster needs to utilize both RDMA and nconnect. The standard Linux NFS stack accommodates their use but does not allow them to be configured simultaneously. The Dell multipath driver allows Linux NFS clients to use RDMA with nconnect mount options while also increasing the maximum nconnect limit from 16 to 64 connections. Additionally, the SuperPOD solution mandates the use of the ‘localports_failover’ NFS mount option, which only works with RDMA.
