The MediaAgent contains a group of tunable parameters for optimal cloud library performance. Each parameter is preconfigured with default values deemed to be suitable for most object stores. You can also set each parameter, if required. You must use the Advanced Settings tab of the MediaAgent, not the native Windows Registry, to change the parameter settings.
The following table lists the MediaAgent tunable parameters for optimal cloud library performance.
Parameter | Value | Notes |
nCloudMaxSubFileSizeKB | 131072 | Non-dedupe only1 |
8192 | Deduplication chunk size when not using Object Lock2 | |
nCloudPageModeSubFileSizeKB | 131072 | Deduplication chunk size when using Object Lock3 |
nCloudGlobalUploadThreadPoolMaxCount | 100 | Total number of concurrent upload threads in a single process, globally for all files, to the cloud library Note: Increasing the threads will speed up the backups but will also result in more memory and CPU consumption. |
1 When using ECS, increase the value of nCloudMaxSubFileSizeKB to 131072, which increases the upload chunk size for better performance. This setting is used only when the storage policy is not configured to use deduplication and might require 12.8 GB additional RAM on the MediaAgent when all threads are being used.
2 Take caution when modifying the value for nCloudPageModeSubFileSizeKB. It has the potential to cause large amounts of unreclaimable garbage in ECS (applies only when you are not using Object Lock).
3 When using Object Lock and deduplication, you can set nCloudPageModeSubFileSizeKB to a larger chunk size because no micro pruning will be done. Once the retention period is reached, all objects are deleted.
