Chunk locations are retained in the chunk manager table, which is stored independently on all sites. The location of the original chunk is known as the primary site; the location that it is replicated to is known as the secondary site.
When a chunk is created, the primary and secondary sites are determined, and the primary site broadcasts the chunk’s site information to the other nodes in the replication group.
In addition, because each site maintains its own chunk manager table, the file information includes the property type for each chunk. Property types include:
