A log bucket is a bucket in ECS. The log bucket can be enabled or disabled in the data movement policy. When the log bucket is enabled in a data movement policy, the log bucket must be in the same account as the source bucket and all object operations will be logged automatically to the log bucket.
The following is an example of a copy operation for an object, which includes copy time, operation type, source account, source bucket name, source IAM access key, source object key, source object modified time (mtime), source object size, source object etag, target endpoint, target bucket name, target IAM access key, duration (ms), and result of the operation (success or error with error message).

ECS automatically creates an IAM role with a set of permissions for any log bucket. These IAM roles are separate per log bucket, with in-line policies. ECS will not clean up any roles for data movement policy removal or changing of the log bucket: you can remove the roles as needed.
