The following table provides definitions for some key terms that are used in this document.

AD | Active Directory |
Fault Set | A logical entity that contains a group of SDSs within a Protection Domain |
FCI | Failover Cluster Instance |
HammerDB | Benchmark tool |
HCI | Hyperconverged Infrastructure |
Instance - Azure | Series type virtual machine – predefined sizes |
IOPS | Input/Output Operations per Second |
NVMe | Non-Volatile Memory Express |
OLTP | Online Transaction Processing |
Proxy server | A public-facing server used for the "jump server" method of accessing the APEX Block Storage deployment |
Region | A collection of cloud data centers within a geographic region, such as North Virginia (us-east-1) |
PowerFlex Gateway | An APEX Block Storage component that orchestrates deployments and upgrades and acts as the REST API gateway to the APEX Block Storage cluster. |
PowerFlex GUI | The web user interface used for configuring and managing APEX Block Storage components, often called the Element Manager. |
SAN | Storage Area Network |
SDC | Storage Data Client. The Dell APEX Block Storage component installed on a server that requires access to APEX Block Storage volumes |
SDS | Storage Data Server. The Dell APEX Block Storage component that controls the local disks |
SLA | Service Level Agreement |
SLES | SUSE Linux Enterprise Server Linux Operating system |
