Home > Storage > PowerFlex > White Papers > Dell APEX Block Storage for Azure: PostgreSQL Deployment and Performance on Kubernetes > Initialize the database
Make the PostgreSQL database ready for testing with pgbench. Invoke the pgbench with the -i (initialize) option to create and populate the tables. Increase the number of rows by using the -s (scale factor) option to the pgbench command.
# pgbench -i -s 70000 -h <hostname> -p <port-number> -U <username> <database-name>
A scale factor of 70000 generates 1 TB of database size.
