HammerDB is an open-source software and significant benchmarking and workload testing tool for the most popular databases supporting IBM Db2, Oracle Database, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, MariaDB, and PostgreSQL.
The HammerDB software is installed on a separate Azure Windows VM. HammerDB requires an OBDC interface to connect to Db2 database server, therefore, it is necessary to install the Db2 client software for ODBC and CLI on that VM. HammerDB connects to Db2 usingCLI as the db2tcl interface is a C based interface enabling CLI connectivity.
The IBM data server driver configuration file ‘db2dsdriver.cfg' is used to set the database name, host name, port number, and configuration keywords to connect to IBM Db2 server as shown in the following figure:
One of the important steps is to allow port for Db2 connectivity by adding inbound security rule in the Azure network security group. The following figure shows allowing specific CIDR and port number in the Azure network security group.
