By distributing data across various availability zones (AZs) on the public cloud, the innovative design significantly boosts resiliency. Dell APEX Block Storage for Public Cloud safeguards against the loss of data access in the event if one of the AZs becomes unavailable by using fault sets that are mapped among them. Resilience is attained without compromising performance or throughput by the removal of redundant or additional copies.
Dell APEX Block Storage is designed to remain running even when it encounters failures. With fast rebuilds, Dell APEX Block Storage recovers rapidly from failures and keeps operating, without degrading performance or compromising availability. You can also extend this availability and configure it to protect your application availability across multiple availability zones.
The following Figure 15 shows the Fault set configuration used in this test setup, where each AZ has two SDSs under a single protection domain.
As shown in Figure 16, you can view all the SDS information by choosing Fault Set and then expanding on SDSs. The condition of each SDS, linked data, fault set membership, capacity, and AZ placement.
