This solution shows the use of DDVE with the BoostFS feature for protecting Dell APEX Block storage for AWS volumes that are consumed by generic applications running in AWS. It is assumed that PowerFlex has already been deployed in AWS and that an Amazon EC2 instance serving as the backup host is configured with SDC. The snapshot of the application volumes is mounted in the backup instance. BoostFS is configured on this backup host.
This example also includes a second DDVE and a second S3 bucket that is deployed in another AWS AZ. DDVE uses its native replication to send the PowerFlex volumes’ backup data from the source DDVE system to the target. Backup and restore operations can continue in the case of downtime of the AZ with the source DDVE.
