DDVE in AWS best practices include:
- DDVE is categorized as a backend server. It is recommended to keep DDVE in a private subnet with a private address.
- Use GP3 EBS volumes for the DDVE root disk and metadata disks.
- The name of the Amazon S3 bucket must be unique in a region because the S3 bucket is a global resource.
- Create S3 endpoints for data traffic between DDVE and the S3 bucket using a private network.
- Deploy DDVE in multiple AZs and enable replication between them to provide AWS regional redundancy.
- Observed better CPU, network bandwidth, and overall reduced backup time with m5.8xlarge DDVE instance type with 16 TB license model compared to m5.xlarge (default instance type for 16 TB) DDVE instance with 16 TB license model.
