All the tests were carried out using the CockroachDB provided tpcc and KV workload test tool.
Both tpcc and KV workload configurations generate read and write IOPS at the PowerFlex storage as well as measure the transaction rate for the current configuration.
Different memory and CPU resource configurations for the CockroachDB pods are used in the performance tests to arrive at a configuration, which would demonstrate the CockroachDB ability to handle high transaction rates and generate both read and write I/Os to the PowerFlex storage layer. A more realistic environment is simulated, where the database capacity is larger than the memory assigned on the pods.
The results of the tests are measured in operations per second, known as ops/s. This ops/s along with IOPS and latency are seen in PowerFlex storage.
