The following diagram shows the logical architecture of this solution:
A single PowerFlex protection domain and a single storage pool are configured in PowerFlex. The PowerFlex storage pool topology consists of four SDSs and 10 SSD disks in each of the four SDS nodes in the PowerFlex system.
Once PowerFlex is set up, then Upstream Kubernetes 1.27 is installed on it. In this solution, Kubernetes is configured with one control plane node and four worker nodes.
After Kubernetes is set up, the Dell PowerFlex CSI driver is installed, for more information, see PowerFlex installation. The CSI driver for PowerFlex provides support for provisioning persistent storage using the Dell PowerFlex storage cluster.
Finally, the CockroachDB cluster deployment of the Kubernetes pods that reside on the PowerFlex compute-only nodes is complete.
Note: The deployment and management of CockroachDB cluster is possible in bare metal, virtual or containerized platforms in on-prem or cloud environments.
