You can reinitialize a server on one or multiple nodes in a cluster, as well as servers in a distributed deployment that supports multi-tenancy. Reinitializing is useful for reinstating a failed server after the issue that was causing the failure is resolved. For servers in the ready state, reinitializing recollects the server's inventory.
Nodes must be configured and discoverable.
To reinitialize a server, set the reInitialize attribute value to "true" in the server's YAML file. For bulk operations on multiple servers, use the reInitialize attribute in a hardware profile. The reInitialize attribute is automatically removed from the YAML file after it is run.
When a server is not in a failed state, Bare Metal Orchestrator performs these reinitialization steps:
- Run inventory against the server again.
- Reconcile the server.
- Reapply any configuration profile that targets the server and then reinstate the server.
For a server in a failed state, Bare Metal Orchestrator takes the server out of the failed state before reinitializing.
