You can reinitialize a switch on one or multiple nodes in a cluster. Reinitialization is useful for reinstating a failed switch after the issue that was causing the failure is resolved. For a switch in the ready state, reinitializing recollects the switch's inventory.
Nodes must be configured and discoverable.
To reinitialize a switch, set the reInitialize attribute value to true in the switch YAML file. The reInitialize attribute is automatically removed from the YAML file after it is run.
When a switch is not in a failed state, Bare Metal Orchestrator performs these reinitialization steps:
- Rerun inventory against the switch.
- Reconcile the switch.
- Reapply any configuration profile that targets the switch and then reinstate the switch.
For a switch in a failed state, Bare Metal Orchestrator takes the switch out of the failed state before reinitializing.
