The target cluster version is the cluster version that you are migrating your data to.
You must complete the first part of the migration procedure before you can perform tasks on the target cluster. For more information about the first part of the migration procedure, see Migrating from the current cluster version.
To perform the second part of the migration procedure, complete the following steps:
Note: Data such as events and OpenSearch logs are not migrated.
- Log in to the target cluster version of the Bare Metal Orchestrator global controller node console.
- Open the target cluster version of the Bare Metal Orchestrator web user interface. For more information about accessing the web user interface, see Bare Metal Orchestrator Web User Interface Guide.
- In the target cluster version of the Bare Metal Orchestrator web user interface, navigate to the Inventory > Actions > Discover Devices section and upload the CSV file to begin the migration. The CSV file is the CSV file that is created in the first part of the migration procedure. For more information, see step 4 in Migrating from the current cluster version. For more information about discovering multiple devices with a CSV file, see the Bare Metal Orchestrator Web User Interface Guide.
Note: The Bare Metal Orchestrator web user interface should not be closed until all servers are migrated.
- To verify the number of servers that have been migrated, navigate to the Bare Metal Orchestrator web user interface dashboard and view the inventory count. For more information about viewing the dashboard, see the Bare Metal Orchestrator Web User Interface Guide.
- In the CLI, upload the image files to the target cluster version. The image files are the files that you backed up in the first part of the migration procedure. For more information, see step 2 in Migrating from the current cluster version.
Note: You must use the folder names that you collected in part one of the migration procedure. For more information about uploading files to the web server, see the Bare Metal Orchestrator Command Line Interface User's Guide.
- In the CLI or web user interface, create the Media, FirmwareMedia, and operating system drivers on the target cluster version of Bare Metal Orchestrator that were originally created in the current cluster version. For more information about creating Media, FirmwareMedia, and operating system drivers, see the Bare Metal Orchestrator Command Line Interface Reference Guide or the Bare Metal Orchestrator Web User Interface Guide.
- In the CLI or web user interface, create the users on the target cluster version of Bare Metal Orchestrator that were originally created in the current cluster version. For more information about creating users, see the Bare Metal Orchestrator Command Line Interface Reference Guide or Bare Metal Orchestrator Web User Interface Guide.
- Validate that the user is able to generate a token by running the following command:
bmo create token --username <username> --password <password> --update-kubeconfig=<kube-config-path>
