This section provides a brief overview of DD series appliance and its integration with Veeam Backup and Replication.
The DD series appliances deliver the most trusted platforms for protection storage. It also ensures unparalleled data integrity, industry leading deduplication, scalability, reliability and performance for smooth and reliable recovery, and a broad ecosystem of backup and archive applications.
DD series appliance is an appliance that can be deployed physically or virtually. The virtual appliance is called PowerProtect DD Virtual Edition (DD VE) which is a software-defined data protection solution of PowerProtect DD. It maintains all the core differentiating features of the DD series appliances. DDVE is fast and simple to download, deploy, and configure. DD VE delivers increased transactional and operational efficiencies, reliability, and it has a lower Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) by utilizing object storage in addition to block storage. DD series appliances support multiple front-end protocols such CIFS/NFS, DD VTL and its own DDboost protocol.
Veeam Backup and Replication is a data protection solution. It provides centralized console for administering backups, restore, and replication operations. Veeam Backup and Replication uses Data domain as protected storage for deduplication, reliable backups, fast recovery, secure replication, and intelligent data re-use. It uses DD Boost technology which offers some advanced features and benefits. Veeam Backup and Replication supports following features:
