The Dell Validated Design for Retail Edge with inVia enables retailers to optimize e-commerce order fulfilment flow from localized fulfillment centers, commonly called micro-fulfillment centers (MFCs), due to their normally smaller size relative to large distribution or fulfilment centers. This Dell Validated Design leverages data analytics and connected worker technologies that inVia offers to batch pick operations and guide workers along the most efficient pick routes to minimize travel and maximize units picked per hour (UPH).
This Dell Validated Design further allows cobots to assist with product picking operations by pre-positioning products that need to be picked closer to the human pickers; thus further reducing travel time and further increasing UPH. By using connected worker and cobots designed to work in concert with humans, this Dell Validated Design targets deployment in retrofit scenarios where construction of new shelving or buildings is not desired. In addition, this may be applied to front-of-house picking off the retail sales floor if the retailer’s layout allows for it.
Each operational outcome of this Dell Validated Design is based upon Dell Technologies hardware and inVia software.
While the solution is designed to support multiple use cases as "art of the possible," the use cases detailed in this document have been specifically validated as part of this Dell Validated Design on Dell hardware and the inVia software application.
