In our example, two dedicated IP SANs are configured and for each IP SAN, a single NVMe-oF subsystem is configured using the single NIC port in that IP SAN.
- Set the following parameters to configure the NVMe-oF subsystems:
- NVMe-oF SubSystemX: Select Enabled.
- Interface: Select the NIC port to be used to connect to NVM Subsystem.
- Protocol: Select IPv4 or IPv6.
- VLAN and VLAN ID: If the switch port that is connected to the NIC port is set as trunk mode, then select Enabled for the VLAN and set the VLAN ID. Otherwise, leave the VLAN set as Disabled.
- DHCP: Set as Enabled only when a DHCP service is provided in the network.
- Host IP Address and Host Subnet Mask: Enter the IP address and subnet mask for the chosen NIC port.
- Host Gateway: Leave it empty if the host and the NVM Subsystem are in the same Layer 2 network.
- NVMe-oF Subsystem NQN, NVMe-oF Subsystem Address and NVMe-oF Subsystem Port:
- If you want the host to query the discovery controller to get the target port (I/O controller) IPs and get all the target ports in the same network connected:
- Leave NVMe-oF Subsystem NQN empty.
- Enter the NVMe-oF Subsystem address with the IP for the discovery controller.
- Enter 8009 in NVMe-oF Subsystem Port.
- Otherwise:
- Enter the NVMe-oF Subsystem NQN.
- Enter one target port IP inNVMe-oF Subsystem address.
- Enter 4420 in NVMe-oF Subsystem Port.
- If you want the host to query the discovery controller to get the target port (I/O controller) IPs and get all the target ports in the same network connected:
- Keep other values as default unless there is a special need. The following provides an explanation for some of the default values:
- NVMe-oF Subsystem Controller ID: Set to 0 by default. PowerStore is supporting a dynamic controller model, and the value has no impact on it.
- Security: Set to Disabled by default since it is not yet supported.
- Authentication Type: Set to None by default since PowerStore does not yet supported it.
There might be some changes in a future release, confirm with DELL support before configuration.
- Repeat steps 1-2 for the second NIC port in the other IP SAN.
- Click Apply so the new values are set but in a pending state.
- Click Apply and Reboot and wait for the server to boot with all the configured parameters taking effect.
