Adding a new MC node to an existing cluster requires the assistance of Dell ProSupport. The additional dual-port NIC will also need to be configured as described in Network Deployment and Configuration.
Once the node is added to the cluster, you will see the existing PowerFlex CSVs with the following information from the output of Get-ClusterSharedVolumes:
- BlockRedirectedIOReason: NoDiskConnectivity
- StateInfo: BlockRedirected
This output is expected because the PowerFlex SDC driver has not been installed on the new MC node, and no mappings are in place.
To configure the new node for this solution, allocate a new IP address for the SDS-1 and SDS-2 data networks in the Implementation Planning section of this guide.
Next, follow the steps in APEX Cloud Platform for Azure Configuration, excluding the Create Network Intent section as this is a one-time operation for the entire cluster.
In summary, perform the following procedures to successfully configure the new node:
- Determine an IP address for both the SDS-1 and SDS-2 data networks for the new MC node.
- Configure Physical NICs.
- Configure Virtual Adapters.
- Create Network Adapter Teaming.
- Configure Jumbo Frames.
- Install and Configure the SDC driver.
