VMware Aria Operations for Logs (formerly VMware vRealize Log Insight) delivers automated log management through log analytics, aggregation, and search. VMware Aria Operations for Logs uses an integrated cloud operations management approach. It provides the operational intelligence and enterprise-wide visibility that is required to proactively enable service levels and operational efficiency in dynamic hybrid cloud environments. At the core of VMware Aria Operations for Logs is the Explore Logs page, which is shown in Figure 84.
The Dell PowerMax Content Pack, when integrated into VMware Aria Operations for Logs, provides dashboards and user-defined fields for Dell PowerMax arrays. These dashboards and fields enable administrators to conduct problem analysis and analytics on their arrays.
A content pack for VMware Aria Operations for Logs is a special type of dashboard group that is read-only to everyone. A content pack can be imported into any instance of VMware Aria Operations for Logs. VMware delivers a default content pack with VMware Aria Operations for Logs that is designed for VMware-related log information. Similarly, Dell has developed a custom content pack for PowerMax log information. It can be downloaded at the VMware Solution Exchange in the Cloud Management Marketplace. It is also available from within the application directly in the Marketplace, as shown in Figure 85.
This content pack contains both dashboards and user-defined fields. All the widgets that make up the dashboards contain an information field that explains the purpose of the graph. The PowerMax Content Pack is not required in order to use VMware Aria Operations for Logs with the PowerMax. However, it is recommended as a good starting point for helping to categorize all the log information coming from the array. It is read-only and free to use.
