Assumptions and limitations for the backup and restore feature include but are not limited to:
- You must provide external compatible object storage such as Amazon Web Services (AWS S3) and S3 credentials.
- You must ensure that the Dell Telecom Infrastructure Automation Suite (Automation Suite) cluster control-plane node can connect to the object storage (S3) server.
- You must ensure management of your backup location and S3 bucket to prevent data corruption, or unplanned backed-up data removal. Note: Automation Suite is not responsible for S3 management.
- If there is a total failure recovery, the new cluster where the restore is performed should have either the same number of nodes or a greater number of nodes.
- Backup and restore in an air-gapped network is not supported. The control plane must be able to communicate with the S3 server.
- Dell recommends that you do not make Automation Suite calls during the backup or restore process. A steady-state backup is recommended.
- The recommended storage space in the object storage for a backup is 200 GB per cluster node. In a three-node environment, the storage space that is required equals 600 GB. The storage space that is required is relative to the amount of data stored in the cluster.
