Whether you install Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform as a cluster with Internet access or as a disconnected cluster, all Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform-related components that you install require registration.
This section uses subscription examples based on the tested Dell Telecom Infrastructure Blocks for Red Hat configuration, which has 30 Dell PowerEdge servers. Based on the tested 30 server configuration, a customer must purchase or provide subscriptions for the following:
- Three infrastructure servers
- Three VMs for Dell Telecom Infrastructure Automation Suite
- One to three provisioner servers
- Six compute servers
- Nine compute and storage servers
The control plane does not require a subscription. The control plane servers run Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform core components and no part of the subscription fee applies to these servers.
Telecom Infrastructure Blocks for Red Hat uses a type of Red Hat subscription called Network Platform Sustaining Subscription (NPSS). NPSS is a CPU socket-based subscription that includes 256 TB of storage. The NPSS lasts for three years.
