Minimum requirements for a Dell Enterprise SONiC with VCF on VxRail deployment include the following:
- For single-rack deployments, two supported Dell PowerSwitch systems are required as leafs.
- For multirack deployments, two supported Dell PowerSwitch systems per rack are required as leafs, plus at least two supported Dell PowerSwitch systems as spines.
- Each switch in an MCLAG pair must be the same model.
- Dell Enterprise SONiC 4.2.1 or later with an Enterprise Standard or Enterprise Premium bundle is required.
- For OOB management connections, at least one 1000BASE-T switch is recommended. Dell Technologies recommends using one PowerSwitch N3248TE-ON per rack.
- VxRail nodes must meet the hardware and software requirements that are listed in the Dell VxRail 8.x support matrix. See your VxRail documentation for more information.
- Onboard NICs in VxRail nodes must be 10 GbE, 25 GbE, or 100 GbE.
- VxRail nodes must be running VxRail 8.0.200 or later, and VCF must be version 5.1 or later. VCF and VxRail versions must be compatible as shown in Supported versions of VMware Cloud Foundation on VxRail.
- At least one NTP server and one DNS server with host records added for this deployment are required. Both must be reachable from the VxRail external management networks.
- A DHCP server for NSX host overlay network TEP (tunnel end point) addresses is optional. Otherwise, a static IP pool can be used. See VMware Cloud Foundation 5.1 on Dell VxRail for more information.
